Going on a cruise w/ some buddies of mine to play in a 100$ buy in tourney. We'll be on the cruise for 5/6 hours and the tourney isn't supposed to last that long. Friends saying that there's other games going on- but I'm not very familiar with them.... In tanya's tourny post she said something about three card poker etc? Was wondering if you guys could just quickly go over the ante/rules/any tricks and things that I should know about?

Would be greatly appretiated;)

You are dealt 3 cards, the object is to get a pair of 10's or better. You have 3 bets placed in front of you, if you don't like your 3 cards (a no brainer is being dealt a pair of 10's or better) then you can pull back the first bet. The dealer then flips over 1 of 2 cards in front of him/her. If you don't like your 4 cards now (no worthy pair) then you can pull back your 2nd bet. Your 3 cards are then placed under the 1st bet, and this is the most you will lose at this point. The dealer will then turn over the 2nd card and will go around the table and pay the winners.

The strategy is hard, as it all depends on how much you want to "gamble" Do you want to leave the first bet out there with a small pair in your hand and hope that the first card turned over gives you 3 of a kind or 2 pair? Do you want to leave the 2nd bet out there when you have an open ended str8 or a 4 card flush? That depends all on you.

One pointer I would give though, is to always leave the 1st bet out there if you are dealt 3 face cards (10's included). If the first card isn't a face card, you can always pull back the 2nd bet so if a face card never comes, you'll be out 2 bets, but you also have 9 outs on pulling a pair to win the 2 bets. Also, play the $1 bonus chip. It always seemed stupid to me when people don't play it and risk out losing on some major bonus money if a good hand comes.

Deuces Wild

You are NOT playing against the dealer, the goal is to get a pair of aces or better to win. You ante up (usually $3 or $5) then the dealer deals himself a card and everyone else at the table. If you like what you see, then you make another bet equal to the first. Then the dealer deals around again. If you like what you see, then you make another bet that is doubled of your 1st bet. Then the dealer deals around again. He will then turn your cards up and pay out if your a winner.

Strategy: Remember that 2's are wild...I always seem to forget this when I play, as I am not used to wild cards..LOL. This is basically a chasing game, unless your lucky enough to be dealt a pair of aces or better right off the bat.

3-5-7

This game is not too common, I actually only know of one casino in Laughlin that has it. Basically, you are dealt 3 cards, the dealer gets four. You try to make at least a pair (of anything) in the first 3 cards, with str8 flush being the best hand possible...or maybe it's 3 of a kind, can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure it's the str8 flush that pays 40 to 1. Then the dealer turns over the frist 2 cards of the 4 and now you try to make a pair of 6's or better using all 5 cards. Then the dealer turns over the final 2 cards and you try to make
Jacks up or better using all 7 cards.

Strategy: NONE. This is a game where you do not have options to fold. You get your cards, and you sit there and watch the hand unfold in front of you. Lots of fun if your drinking, no thinking involved!!

Caribbean Stud

Not too, too familiar with this game, but you are playing against the dealer and you have to have at least AK or the dealer has to have at least that to pay out or something like that. Get all the rules and try to memorize them...LOL

This game also has a jackpot $1 option, which I would advise using. You get 5 cards and THATS IT...then you just have to decide if you have a better hand than the dealer.

OK, that's all the table games that I play/know. I have never played 3 hand poker, or Pai Gow Poker, or any of the other ones, but that's my two bits!!

Thanks for the info sours - I'm more of a Hold'em person myself so wasn't too informed on the other popular forms of the game.

Wildcards are a bit of a novelty though, not played poker with wildcards for years now.
