I have posted some hands that I have lost. This one I won. Please provide your thoughts.
NL HE $25 table ($0.5/$1).
I have $27 and am holding King Spade Ten Spade . I limp from middle position. Button calls. SB calls, BB raises to $2. I call. Button calls, SB folds.
Flop is Nine Hearts Nine Spade Jack Spade
BB bets $3 into a $6.5 pot. My thinking is that if he held JJ, he would be checking in this spot. I can't picture a hand that he would raise from the BB with a 9, unless it's 99 and if he held 99 he would be checking here. J9 is out of the question. I have put him on AJ or nothing. Probably AJ. I push all-in for $22 more. I am putting him to the test. I want to grab the extra chances to win by him folding. The board is scary enough that there is a good chance that he might just do that. Plus I have about a 50/50 shot of winning if he calls. I have flush outs plus 3 straight outs plus 3 overcard outs.
Button folds. BB thinks for the full time and then calls.
The turn is a blank, Three (trey) Diamonds
The river is a King Hearts .
He shows Ace Clubs Jack Diamonds and I take a big pot.
I catch some flack at the table for that play. Suckout? I don't think so. The call of the raise was questionable. Other than that... I thought it was an OK play (in a ring that is). In a tournament, I don't know, but in a ring where you can easily rebuy, I think it is profitable in the long term. Besides, I really expected him to fold.
What do you think of the play?
