So I've been reading Harrington's books and overall am very impressed with his strategy/explanations. One thing that bothers me though is the implied pot odds determining your call with a very weak hand - One of Harrington's examples is where he calls with a J3 os and loses - my point is this - if I am getting say 8-1 odds to call and I am a 4-1 underdog, his argument is that I should call as I am getting the correct odds to - but I am going to lose this hand 80 times out of a 100 - why is this considered the correct thing to do?

I understand that in certain situations it definitely is the right call if the raiser is a short stack and can reasonably be thought to be pushing with any 2 cards

But what about when say the blinds are 50/100 and there are 5 limpers and I'm on the button with 72 os - I am getting 7.5-1 pot odds, but I can't call here can I?

Thoughts please

Thanks guys
